Congresswoman Summer Lee Celebrates Ribbon-Cutting for Castlegate Green Affordable Housing Development in Mt. Lebanon
Mt. Lebanon, PA – Today, Congresswoman Summer Lee joined local officials and community leaders to celebrate the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Castlegate Green, a new 51-unit mixed-income affordable housing development in Mt. Lebanon. The project is a landmark initiative aimed at addressing the region’s housing crisis by providing affordable, high-quality housing in a high-opportunity area.
Castlegate Green offers residents access to key community assets, including high-quality schools, public transit, and employment opportunities. The development emphasizes creating an inclusive environment where families can thrive and experience upward mobility.
“Castlegate Green isn’t just about providing affordable housing—it’s about creating communities where everyone has a chance to succeed,” said Congresswoman Summer Lee. “By integrating affordable housing into a vibrant area with access to essential services, we’re ensuring that families can live, grow, and build better futures for themselves right here in Western Pennsylvania. This development is a shining example of what’s possible when we prioritize people and communities over profits.”
The event brought together local housing advocates, elected officials, and representatives from The Community Builders and the Allegheny County Housing Authority. Attendees emphasized the importance of projects like Castlegate Green in expanding affordable housing options while fostering community development and opportunity.
County Executive Sara Innamorato also praised the project’s potential to transform lives through increased housing access and economic mobility, saying, “Castlegate Green is more than just a housing development—it represents a commitment to economic growth and creating strong communities in Allegheny County. Projects like this show that we can grow our economy, support local jobs, and expand our tax base by creating affordable housing.”
The Castlegate Green development marks a critical step in addressing the region’s affordable housing shortage and demonstrates a commitment to creating inclusive, opportunity-rich communities throughout Western Pennsylvania.
