Congresswoman Summer Lee Joins Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Primary Care Health Services Medical Center in Homewood

Pittsburgh, PA – Today, Congresswoman Summer Lee joined local leaders, elected officials, and healthcare providers for the groundbreaking ceremony of Primary Care Health Services’ (PCHS) new medical center in Homewood. The $25 million project is set to significantly expand healthcare services for underserved residents in Pittsburgh, marking a transformative moment in the community’s revitalization efforts.

The new medical center will serve as a comprehensive health hub, addressing the social determinants of health by partnering with organizations like Healthy Start and Homewood Children’s Village. This collaborative approach will ensure the new facility provides not only critical medical services but also resources that support families and build stronger, healthier communities.

“This groundbreaking isn’t just about a new building—it’s about investing in the health and future of the Homewood community,” said Congresswoman Summer Lee. “By expanding access to quality healthcare and addressing the broader needs of families through partnerships with community organizations, we’re ensuring that everyone in Homewood has the opportunity to thrive.”

The event brought together local leaders and community members to celebrate the start of a project that will improve healthcare access and serve as a cornerstone of Homewood’s revitalization. Attendees, including Mayor Ed Gainey and representatives from Healthy Start and Homewood Children’s Village, underscored the significance of this investment and the impact it will have on the community for years to come.

The PCHS Medical Center will offer a wide range of healthcare services, including primary care, maternal health support, and family services. By addressing the social and economic factors that contribute to health disparities, the new facility will help reduce inequities and promote long-term wellness for Homewood residents.

Congresswoman Lee has been a steadfast advocate for equitable healthcare access and continues to push for policies that prioritize the needs of underserved communities. The groundbreaking marks a new chapter in Homewood’s journey toward health equity and community empowerment.
