(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — Congresswoman Summer Lee (PA-12) has been appointed to serve on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee and the Science, Space and Technology Committee in the 118th Congress.

Ranking Member Jamie Raskin said, “I’m excited to welcome to the Oversight and Accountability Committee Rep. Summer Lee, whose passion to make government work for the people will be a major new boost for our Committee. I look forward to partnering with Rep. Lee to defend the truth this Congress and ensure an effective and efficient government that works to promote the common good.”

Congresswoman Summer Lee said, “You sent me to Washington to take on the billionaire CEOs and stand up for the people of Western PA – especially marginalized and poor communities like the one I’m from.

“For too long, our government has put profit over people–the priorities of the rich and powerful over the working class. If we want a government that truly delivers justice for all, we’ve got to unrig the system.

“As an organizer and as a legislator in the State House defending against a right-wing majority – my work has always been about giving power back to working People by making government accountable to working people.

“I’m honored to join the powerful House Oversight and Accountability Committee, where I’ll fight corruption, expose corporate greed, and go toe to toe with white supremacist super-villains trying to exploit your tax dollars to peddle hate-for-profit

“You also sent me to Congress to fight for investments in our economic future for ALL of us. On the Science Space and Technology Committee, I’ll deliver funding to fuel Western PA innovation, bring research dollars back to our institutions, and break down barriers to Black, brown, and marginalized folks in STEM. And I’ll work towards Clean Energy Manufacturing that will open the door for climate justice, clean air and water in every neighborhood, fair wages, dignified work conditions, and thousands of union jobs.”
