1 pm ET at Gladstone Field (Hazelwood Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15207) — Congresswoman Lee will join Lt. Governor Austin Davis for a press conference announcing the replacement of 10,000 lead service lines by the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) along with Will Pickering, PWSA, the Pittsburgh Mayor’s office, the EPA Office of Water; and the Public Utilities Commission. Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) has spent hundreds of millions of dollars to replace lead lines service in Pittsburgh. Since 2015/2016 when there was an increase in lead levels found in PWSA’s drinking water, PWSA has created a nationally recognized program to locate and remove all the lead lines in the utility’s service area. In 2020, PWSA announced that it’s testing found lead levels in drinking water were back “in compliance” (meaning below the threshold of EPA Action Level), and currently PWSA is finding its lowest lead levels on record in its drinking water.
