Region’s leaders in Congress urge labor board to help resolve Pittsburgh news workers strike (Union Progress)

Western Pennsylvania’s elected leaders in Congress co-signed a letter urging the National Labor Relations Board to investigate and resolve pending unfair labor practice charges from the labor dispute between the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and its workers who have been on strike for more than six months.

“Under the supervision of the NLRB, we hope that both parties can return to the bargaining table and return to contract talks in good faith,” reads part of the letter, signed by U.S. Sens. Bob Casey and John Fetterman and U.S. Reps. Summer Lee and Chris Deluzio.

Allegheny-Fayette Central Labor Council President Darrin Kelly hailed Wednesday’s letter to NLRB General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo, saying, “We have been asking the federal authorities to intervene in this conflict before it continues to escalate and before someone gets seriously hurt. Today, our representatives in Washington answered the call ….”
