Rep. Summer Lee Statement on Trump’s First 100 Days in Office

WASHINGTON, D.C. April 30, 2025 — Today, Congresswoman Summer Lee (PA-12), a member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement marking the first 100 days of the Trump Administration:

“Today marks 100 days of Trump’s unchecked cruelty, chaos, and corruption, and the message is clear: this presidency was bought by the ultra-wealthy and billionaires and will serve only to make the rich richer at the expense of our families and our communities.

“From the moment this administration took power, our democracy has been undermined, our checks and balances eroded, and our most vulnerable communities put at risk. Federal funds frozen. Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security threatened. Thousands fired. Activists illegally detained. Public education attacked. Families ripped apart. Environmental regulations gutted. The list goes on.

“But make no mistake—we are not defenseless, and we will not be silent. As a member of the House Oversight Committee, I’ve joined committee Democrats in sending countless letters demanding accountability and transparency and in  launching over 18 investigations to expose the corruption and hold this administration accountable. In my district, Pennsylvania’s 12th, I’ve been in community—hosting town halls and standing firmly against this administration’s cruelty.

“We won’t allow Trump’s billionaire-first agenda to trample our freedoms, safety, and livelihoods. As long as he continues to put special interests before working families, I promise this: I’ll be right here fighting—today, tomorrow, and every day—to protect our democracy, our dignity, and the communities I am so proud to represent.”

Congresswoman Summer Lee serves on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Committee on Education and Workforce. Since taking office in January 2023, she has delivered historic levels of federal investment totaling over $2.4 billion brought back to Western PA, including over $580 million for infrastructure, over $110 million for affordable transit, over $500 million to keep clean energy manufacturing at home in Pennsylvania, and over $55 million on clean energy efforts in and around schools to help keep our kids and communities safe. These investments will help improve Western Pennsylvania’s infrastructure and transit, ensure cleaner air and drinking water, lower housing costs, fund research institutions, fuel clean manufacturing, fund STEM innovation and entrepreneurship, boost workforce development, and create thousands of good paying union jobs.  Lee and her team have also delivered casework and constituent services to over 3,000 constituents with issues ranging from helping our seniors and disabled community access Medicare and social security to helping folks secure housing and helping families with immigration support and passports.
