Summer Lee working to secure funding to address trauma from 10/27 shooting (Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle)
Lee: "NOW is the time to invest in healing, care for ongoing trauma, and education about antisemitism and identity."

Rep. Summer Lee (D-District 12) “is working to secure millions in community project funding” for projects in response to the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, according to a press release from her office.
The congresswoman, who represents Squirrel Hill, “is working to deliver $3,451,258 for the Tree of Life Congregation to create a community gathering and education space to teach about antisemitism and identity within the renovated Tree of Life building,” and “to deliver $547,212 to 10.27 Healing Partnership at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh to respond to and address the ongoing trauma from the 2018 Synagogue Mass Shooting in the lead-up to and in the aftermath of the trial,” the press release states.
No additional information was provided regarding Lee’s efforts toward securing the funding. She did not respond to the Chronicle’s request for an interview.
The trial of the man accused of murdering 11 Jews in the Tree of Life building on Oct. 27, 2018, began with jury selection on April 24. It is expected to last several months.
“With hate crimes rising to their highest levels on record with antisemitic attacks making up the majority of religious hate crimes, NOW is the time to invest in healing, care for ongoing trauma, and education about antisemitism and identity,” Lee said in a prepared statement at the start of the trial. “When we come together in community, we make sure that hate has no home here in Pennsylvania.” PJC
