Rep. Summer Lee Named Ranking Member of Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Summer Lee (PA-12) has been elected to serve as the Ranking Member of the Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee under the House Oversight Committee. This leadership role positions Rep. Lee to play a pivotal role in increasing accountability for federal law enforcement agencies and reimagining public safety systems to ensure they serve and protect all communities equitably.
“As Ranking Member of the Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee, I will focus on confronting the systemic abuses of power within our law enforcement agencies,” said Congresswoman Lee. “For too long, these systems have disproportionately harmed Black folks, brown folks, immigrants, and working-class communities. It’s time to demand transparency, accountability, and meaningful reform to ensure that justice is not just a promise but a lived reality. I will fight to reimagine public safety and build systems that prioritize equity, community investment, and trust.”
The Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee is tasked with overseeing federal law enforcement agencies, including their policies, practices, and accountability measures. The subcommittee plays a critical role in ensuring that these agencies operate within the bounds of the Constitution and in service to all Americans, while also addressing pressing issues such as civil liberties, public safety, and systemic discrimination.
