Biography

Congresswoman Summer Lee is a dedicated legislator, attorney, and organizer who has proudly represented Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District since 2023. Born and raised in the Mon Valley, she is the first Black woman ever elected to Congress from Pennsylvania.

Congresswoman Lee serves on the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and is the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement. She also serves on the Committee on Education and Workforce where she sits on the Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education Subcommittee and the Higher Education and Workforce Development Subcommittee.

Throughout her time in office, Congresswoman Lee has worked to get money out of politics, advance environmental justice, and advocate for criminal legal reform. She has brought back over $2.7 billion to her district for infrastructure upgrades and community revitalization. She is also a steadfast champion for workers’ rights, unions, and the fight for a livable wage.

Congresswoman Lee’s landmark legislation, the Abolish Super PACs Act, has gained national recognition in the fight for campaign finance reform. She is a co-founder of the People’s Environmental Justice Caucus and in July 2025, led the charge to subpoena the Department of Justice to release the full, unredacted Jeffery Epstein files. In March 2026, Congresswoman Lee introduced articles of impeachment against Attorney General Pam Bondi for defying the legally-binding subpoena.

Prior to being elected to Congress, Congresswoman Lee served in the Pennsylvania State House from 2019 - 2022. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
