Affordable Housing

Housing is a human right. But across Western Pennsylvania and the country, we are facing an affordable housing crisis that demands urgent, bold action. Families are being priced out of the neighborhoods they’ve called home for generations. In Pittsburgh alone, over 5,000 families rely on Section 8 vouchers just to afford rent. Meanwhile, predatory developers and corporate landlords are driving up prices and displacing working families, seniors, and young people just trying to survive.

People should not have to choose between paying rent and putting food on the table or getting the healthcare they need.

I’m working to address the affordable housing crisis through concrete legislative solutions—like the Keep Affordable Housing in Forgotten Communities Act, which I introduced to help preserve and expand affordable housing in historically underserved areas. My priorities include increasing federal support for rental assistance, strengthening protections for tenants, and preventing displacement and homelessness. Everyone deserves safe, stable, and affordable housing, and that principle should be reflected across the board in our policies.
