WASHINGTON, D.C. – SEPTEMBER 16, 2025 — Today, Congresswoman Summer L. Lee (PA-12) and Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez (IL-03) introduced the Stop the Super PAC-Candidate Coordination Act, bold legislation to curb the influence of money in politics and protect the integrity of our democracy.

The bill establishes stronger limits and reporting requirements for coordinated expenditures between candidates and outside groups, such as super PACs. It also prohibits candidates and officeholders from soliciting funds for super PACs and other political organizations that accept unlimited contributions.

“For too long, super PACs have poisoned our politics, flooding our elections with limitless money and drowning out the voices of the American people. We see this every election cycle, with special interest groups pouring millions to try to silence our communities and stop working-class folks from having a seat at the table,” said Rep. Lee. “That is not democracy. That is corruption. And that is why I am proud to join Congresswoman Ramirez in introducing this bill to rein in the abuses and put power back where it belongs: with the people.”

The legislation is cosponsored by Rep. Mullin (CA-15), Rep. Tlaib (MI-12), and Rep. McCollum (MN-04).

The legislation is endorsed by End Citizens United, Public Citizen, and CREW

Rep. Lee has been leading the fight to get big money out of politics. Earlier this year, she introduced the Abolish Super PACs Act, which would place strict limits on contributions to Super PACs essentially shutting down a vehicle that allows unlimited outside spending in federal elections. She also helped introduce the OLIGARCH Act, or the “Oppose Limitless Inequality Growth and Reverse Community Harms Act,” designed to curb extreme wealth concentration and rein in the outsized political power of ultra-wealthy individuals. Most recently, she convened a public roundtable at Carnegie Mellon University called The Many Over the Money: Roundtable on Money in Politics, where she and advocates discussed abolishing Super PACs, overturning Citizens United, and stopping multinational corporate political spending in elections.
