Rep. Summer Lee Statement on Trump’s Unconstitutional Strikes on Iran

WASHINGTON, DC – JUNE 22, 2025 — Today, Congresswoman Summer L. Lee (PA-12) released the following statement condemning the Trump administration’s unconstitutional military strikes on Iran:

“By bypassing Congress and initiating military strikes on Iran, Trump is acting fully outside of his authority and is once again trampling on the Constitution. This is an illegal, reckless, and terrifying escalation. Trump ran for President promising to end wars, not start new ones. Dropping bombs on Iran for the first time in American history drags us toward endless war, not lasting peace, and he is putting millions of lives at risk.

“Congress must immediately pass our War Powers Resolution to rein in this out-of-control, wannabe dictator. This administration will be responsible for any harm that befalls an American in retaliation.

“Diplomacy—not unilateral military aggression—is the only responsible path to saving lives. We must choose peace over chaos and the rule of law over authoritarian impulse.”
